Mental Health in Australia Today

Written by Montier Health | Oct 27, 2025 8:30:00 AM

Mental health continues to be one of the most significant health challenges facing Australians. While awareness has grown, many people still find it difficult to seek help when they need it most.

Current data highlights the importance of ongoing awareness and support across the country:

  • Around 43% of Australians aged 16–85 will experience a mental disorder at some point in their life.
  • In any given year, about 1 in 5 Australians live with a mental health condition.
  • Despite growing understanding, barriers such as cost, access, and stigma continue to prevent many people from seeking timely help.

These figures show that mental health concerns are common and can affect anyone. They also remind us that recovery and resilience are possible with early recognition and access to appropriate care.

Starting a conversation about how you’re feeling can be a valuable first step. Understanding that mental health is an essential part of overall wellbeing helps break down stigma and encourages more Australians to reach out for support.
